Burglary in East Cranmore Lane

E-mail Print
Between 8pm on Friday the 9th July and 8am on Saturday 10th July, suspects cut through a wire fence in an adjourning property and jemmied a garden shed containing a John Deere ride-on mower.  The mower was taken through the field at the rear of the property to an awaiting vehicle believed to be a Ford and the burglars made good their escape.  Please be aware of any suspect vehicles in the area, quiet possibly a Ford transit or larger vehicle capable of transporting a large mower.  Please report any sightings directly to the police.

INTIMIDATION

E-mail Print

I have been informed that a number of teenage boys have been using the Pirate Ship in the playing field as a meeting point to consume alcohol. Nearby residents have been obliged to clear up broken glass from beer bottles which could have led to unnecessary injuries. This in turn has apparently intimidated the younger children for whom this equipment was provided to stay away. I would assume these boys live reasonably locally and would ask that if their identities are known, please let us know to enable us to deal with it within the village environment.    Thank you.

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES

E-mail Print

At about 10.45 pm last Monday 1st March in Cooks Lane , Cranmore, two white Commercial vehicles were deliberately set on fire whilst parked unattended on the owners drive. One was completely destroyed the other badly damaged. We have reason to believe that the occupants of a White VW Transporter were possibly concerned in the attack. If anyone saw a vehicle of a similar description in the village or anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Crane Cottages either on the evening or prior to the evening of the attack please respond to us on this website or  contact Wells Police on 0845 456 7000.

The victims of this attack wish to express their sincere thanks to all those neighbours who came to their aid immediately after the event. It's reassuring to know that in the event of an emergency village residents are willing to pull together.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO BT PHONE BOX

E-mail Print

For those who are not already aware the phone box in Piers Road opposite East Cranmore Railway has been completely wrecked by vandals. Every window was smashed, the equipment ripped out and graffiti daubed inside. It remains to be seen if BT are prepared to restore it in view of it's apparent lack of use.

UPDATE ON ABANDONED AUDI L51NYD

E-mail Print
I have exchanged e-mails with our previous Beat Manager WPC Jay Appleton some two weeks ago on this matter. She informs me that the vehicle is locked, taxed, undamged and not causing any obstruction. She has apparently instigated an enquiry with the registered owner to remove it at the earliest opportunity. I await a positive response and details as to who has taken over her role in Cranmore.
